Burritos

Having lived in California, I have a deep love for, and specifically fond memories of, burritos.  When I lived in San Francisco, my local taquería of choice was La Cumbre.  During that amazing year I ate a lot of burritos, mostly from this spot around the corner from my apartment.

Returning to California for our two years in Sacramento, I found "my burrito" at La Favorita Taquería.

I have yet to find the NoCal burrito of my dreams in northern Jersey or its environs.  Which is fine...and as it should be, really.

In the meantime, thanks to Red Sox Daddy's perfecting of Bette Hagman's Bean Flour Tortillas from The Gluten-Free Gourmet Cooks Fast and Healthy, and the kids gradual and now full blown love of homemade burritos, we enjoy this staple meal three to four times a month.

I had mine with "ketchup rice", refried beans, salsa and green goddess dressing.  Yum.

(There's nothing wrong with ketchup rice, but I do have visions of someday enticing the family with a delectable "Spanish rice" formulation...)
